Paul Bellamy from the Mid Staffs Woodturners Association was invited along to our meeting to demonstrate a video camera system he has devised for use with a lathe or indeed any woodworking demonstrations. The cameras are of the type used in security "situations" and he has mounted them on booms so that they can be positioned close to work e.g. lathe, carving, pyrography etc. The images are shown on a TV monitor although it is preferable to use a projector and screen; using this system all members of an audience can get a clear close up view of the work. Additionally, by using two cameras and a switch the angle of view can be changed at will.
We understand that Paul is working on a "tool-cam" which involves attaching a small camera to say, a gouge to get close up action photos.
