The water was opened for fly fishing (brown trout) in 1996 and in the weeks that followed a number of anglers suggested that a club be set up for those people who regularly fished the water. Thus in 1998 a trio of friends discussed the possibilities of running a club and what is now known as Carsington Fly Fishers became a reality.
The club runs a series (7) of friendly competitions throughout the season and the member amassing the highest number of points is awarded the Angler of the Year trophy. During the close season it was customary to hold a number of evening meetings in a local hostelry when members were able to see fly tying demonstrations etc., however, owing to disappointing attendances the committee now channels its energy and members’ money into prizes and the annual dinner.
A newsletter is issued two or three times each year; if you wish to learn more about the club send your request via the contact link at the foot of the page.
Annual membership fee still only £15
The committee has negotiated a preferential rate from the fishery management for members to fish each competition.
